Super PBR is the fastest, easiest way to add PBR materials to a Blender scene.

Features |

  • One button interface, select any directory

  • Batch imports & renames the materials based on the name of the Albedo map

  • Locates matching PBR maps by naming convention

  • Traverses all subdirectories, able to set up hundreds of PBR materials in seconds

  • Support for 10 maps: Albedo, Normal, Roughness, Metal, Bump, Displacement, Specular, Emissive, AO, Opacity

  • Dynamically sets up the node tree and connects the nodes automatically for every material added

  • Support for all combinations of Bump, Displacement, Normal+Bump, and Ambient Occlusion node structures

  • Turns on Bump+Displacement if there is a displacement map in Cycles engine

  • Turns on Bloom if an emissive map exists in Eevee Engine

  • Automatically increments material name if any subdirectories have identical texture names

  • Sets non-color texture maps to image mode Non-Color

Installation Instructions |

1. Download SuperPBR.zip and put it wherever you would like. You do not need to unzip to install the add-on.

2. Open Blender. Go "Edit" -> "Preferences", then click "Add-ons", and then click "Install..."

3. Locate SuperPBR.zip and select "Install Add-on"

4. Wait a moment for the Add-on to appear in the preferences window, then check the box to enable Super PBR

5. Select any mesh object and you should see "Super PBR" add-on UI in the materials panel

User Guide |

1. Press the "Select Directory" button

2. When you select a directory, Super PBR will make (1) new material for each of the Albedo images it finds in the folder or any subfolder within

3. Super PBR will automatically map the associated PBR image maps based on naming convention

Super PBR relies on standard naming convention to properly set up materials. The suffix of your files needs to match the according map type. For example, Brick_Wall_Albedo.png, and Brick_Wall_Normal.png

Supported Naming Conventions

Albedo or Base Color:

  • "albedo"

  • "basecolor"

  • "base_color"

  • "nor"

Bump:

  • "bump"

Ambient Occlusion:

  • "ao"

  • "ambient occlusion"

  • "occlusion"

Emissive:

  • "emissive"

  • "emission"

  • "emissivity"

  • "specular"

  • "spec"

  • "reflection"

Displacement:

  • "displace"

  • "displacement"

  • "height"

Opacity:

  • "alpha"

  • "transparent"

4. After selecting the directory, you should see the material panel populated with your new PBR materials. Click on a material to review the node setup

5. You can select "Remove Unused Slots" from the material drop down to keep the materials available in the scene, but remove them from the selected object

6. You can select "Purge Unused Materials" from the Super PBR panel to permanently remove any unused materials from your scene. Careful, this will delete all unused materials from your scene.
